Applies to: HR/Customer administrators
Most employees will adopt the company entitlement for holiday per year, which will also use accrual rules to increase entitlement automatically. Accrual rules may also allow for carried leave.
There could however, be times when an individual employee’s initial entitlement might need to be configured differently. Examples might be if an employee has changed role or company policies around entitlement have changed.
- To configure initial entitlement for an employee and whilst logged in as administrator, first find and load their employee record. Either by using employee search or under the People side menu and Employees sub-menu.
- With the employee record displayed on screen, click the Leave tab for the selected employee

- Click View Entitlement, which displays the Employee Entitlement screen.

- Select the entitlement to be configured from the table, which will cover a period from January 1st to December 31st, by clicking the corresponding row, as shown in the example above.
- Click configure with the selected row highlighted and the Configure Entitlement form will be displayed.

- As you can see, the form corresponds to the entitlement for the period selected.
- You initially have the option to change from Days to Hours, should your company use hourly leave. This is explained in greater detail in the related articles at the bottom of this page.
- To set the initial entitlement for the employee for the given period, manually type number of days/hours or use the field controls to increase/decrease the entitlement amount.

- In this example, Bradley has changed his role and team within the organisation. With this change, Bradley also benefited from an increased entitlement of four days, taking him from 20 to 24 days leave per year.
- As you can see, the remaining entitlement is updated, but not classed as an adjustment. Adjustments are individual changes for reasons such as purchased/sold leave, an extra day for Birthdays or time off in lieu. Adjustments are discussed in greater detail in the related articles at the bottom of this page.
- A completed and re-configured initial entitlement form will look similar to the example below.

- The new initial entitlement is then updated and shown in the Employee Entitlement screen.

- You may need/want to configure the initial entitlement for any future entitlement shown. Please use the same steps above, to complete this for future entitlement.
